Default Essence Bond + Balthazar's Spirit Stack?

I've been having a little bit of trouble with energy management in a couple of my characters that have Monk secondaries... but I had an idea, do Essence Bond and Balthazar's Spirit stack? Like when you take damage would you then gain two pips of energy?

Nice combo to use, used it on my 105-monk and hardly touched Blessed Signet. Whilst been pounded on, energy was constantly being tanked up, and was able to spam Healing Breeze and Reversal of Fortune without a problem. Only started to use Blessed Signet once the mob started to drop in numbers.
